Some of the best shopping in the US is within easy travelling distance, including Sarasota [several large malls], St Armand's Circle [up market boutiques] and historic downtown Venice [more boutiques]
There is a large mall in Port Charlotte with all the usual stores [Penneys, Macy's, Dillards, Bealls, Sears etc]. In addition there are two Outlet Malls within an easy drive, in Ellenton, near Bradenton and on the outskirts of Naples.
For those who are looking for a bargain, flea markets can be found in Venice and Fort Myers and for a more touristy shopping experience try Tin City in Naples or Fishermans Village in Punta Gorda
Boat trips
The best way to see Florida is from the water and you can take some wonderful sightseeing trips locally. We enjoy sunset trips on Charlotte Harbor with the Kingfisher fleet out of Punta Gorda and also their regular trips to Cabbage Key and Costa Cayo.
Sunset cruises and other boat trips are also offered by Grande Tours out of Placida Harbor.
